Dr. Ireland’s studies, both in Canada and Australia, centered on stabilization and breaking of “clean” and contaminated emulsion systems, with applications to the oil sands industry.

In 2016, Dr. Ireland joined Extraordinary Adsorbents Inc., a University of Alberta spinoff start-up company aimed at commercializing advances in molecular sieve (zeolite) science to high value added applications.

Dr. Ireland’s work has involved designing new water softening and purification adsorbents as well as designing low temperature/energy drying agents for industrial gas applications. She is proficient in tailoring and characterizing adsorbents, as well as developing manufacturing flow sheets and scale-up processes for commercialization.
